Project Design Engineer
Job Description
Adept Engineering are excited to be working with a leading project and installation company that creates bespoke products for the material handling industry. Our client is looking for a mechanically bias Project Design Engineer with previous experience using solid works in a heavy steel environment.
This role will be involved in all aspects of product design and development from initial concepts through to production, demonstrating the ability to analyse problems and come up with innovative and cost-effective solutions.
The Project Design Engineer will perform a range of designs using a 3D CAD system, using a variety of materials, manufacturing methods, and technologies.
Job Responsibilities
Ensuring the project meets its deadlines at each stage
Take responsibility for and manage own workload
Translating client requirements into practical terms that can be implemented by a team.
Prioritizing and organising project tasks into the required timeline
Produce 2D / 3D CAD design drawings for the manufacturing process
Ensuring the design process recognizes current legislation, standards and codes of practice, and where appropriate liaise with the SHEQ Manager to ensure full CE and legislative compliance of new and existing products
Identifying problems with the project, taking the lead on developing solutions and ensuring solutions are implemented
Listening and responding to team and client requests
Testing product designs using models, prototypes, specialist computer software and computer-aided design (CAD) technology
Liaising with third parties such as external contractors around time scales and working practices
Ensure a safe and legally compliant workplace is maintained within the design office in line with company policies and procedures
Maintain a high standard of personnel presentation and compliance with the companies’ uniform expectations
Deals with confidential information and/or issues using discretion and judgment
Strive to eliminate health and safety and financial risks in the design, manufacturing and installation processes.
Any other duty required by the company that is within the skills and capabilities of the employee.
